Granting Agency:
Allstate Foundation
Time Period:
Fall 2001 through Spring 2003
Background:
Safety and injury prevention are important topics for discussion with all parents, and there is a wide variety of literature available for providers and parents. Children with special health care needs may require specific safety and injury prevention information related to their chronic condition or disability. For example, a child with a seizure disorder, diabetes or asthma may be particularly vulnerable in situations involving water sports or activities.
Purpose:
This project adapted current information available for health care providers on injury prevention to identify safety tips for children with chronic conditions and disabilities and their families.
